How We Met From Dany's Point of View

I’d seen her for months at the gym. Same time every evening. She’d walk in, beautiful, headphones in, like she was in her own world. We’d exchange glances every now and then. At first, it was nothing more than a polite acknowledgment. A quick wave, a small smile. But those little moments became more frequent. Sometimes, I’d see her and she’d look over and give me that slight, knowing smile. For months, I told myself I’d speak to her. But, every time I built up the courage, she’d finish her workout and leave before I could find the words. It was always just that small wave and smile, nothing more. But something changed one Friday evening. I remember it clearly. It was a bit quieter than usual, not as many people in the gym, and she was finishing up her work out. I was trying to push through the last few minutes of my workout, but I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I had spent too long wondering if she ever even noticed me, if she ever thought about those little moments we shared. So, I finally walked over to where she was. My heart was racing, but something inside told me this was my chance. As she turned to walk off, I called out, “Hi, um, I’m Dany. What’s your name?” She paused for a second, then looked at me with that same smile. But this time, there was something different in it—something more genuine. “Mandy. Nice to meet you.”


And that was it. No grand gesture, no dramatic moment. Just a simple question, a simple answer. But for me, it felt like everything. From that moment on, I knew we had something worth exploring. Something that started with a smile and a wave, ended with me marrying the love of my life.
